Another Double............

Posted by Jules exall on

Team RCPB hit Ledbury this weekend for the first round of the Ledbury Winter series. A great turn out of over 50 drivers and nearly a full RCPB 1/8th Nitro Turn out, with 10 RCPB team members in attendance.

The Track had some changes, with a new jump section and conditions changing through the day meant it started wet/foggy/cold, then got dry and then cold and foggy/dewy for the finals. This meant tyre choice was hard and changing conditions kept the whole field on its toes.

From Left to Right – Milan Dragojlovic, Steve “Shakey” Shakespere, Matt Box, Ben Billing, Alex Page, Andy Prosser, Chris Lovell, Simon White and Simeon White, Simon Davies.

The Team had a great day and after round one Milan was ahead of the whole field by 20s, quite an achievement in this tough field of racers, but the guys soon started to catch him up. After qualifying Milan had taken TQ, with Matt box, Ben Billing, Alex Page and Simon White making straight into the A Final, great job guys!

Onto the finals and once again the fog rolled in, The D Final saw the first team battle of the day, which saw the youngest and oldest members of the team, Simeon White and Andy Prosser take each other on, starting close on the grid and after a good battle Andy with his RR8 just ahead of Simoen with his Mugen MBX7 by a few seconds. Great racing, Watch out guys Simoen is catching you all up!

The C Final included Simon Davies who managed to improve on his starting position and finish 7th with his sworkz evo 2.

The B final saw Chris Lovell and Shakey with their MP9’s take the track, and after a storming race Shakey managed to win and Bump into the A and Chris Lovell just missing the bump in 5th. This meant 6 RCPB drivers in the A final.

The A final was lead from start to finish by Milan and his fantastic looking MP9/Nova Rossi Combo, but both Ben Billing and his Sworkz and Matt Box and his MP9 in hot pursuit. Matt held a podium position for a while but eventually Ben Billing got passed him taking 2nd. In the Middle of the pack, Alex/Simon and Shakey were also battling amongst themselves, but in the end Shakey took the honours, from Simon and then Alex finishing a very respectable 9/10/11. Team boss Matt box was right in the middle of the pack at the end finishing 5th. What an A final. Well done drivers and well done Pit (wo)men for a great job as usual. Another double podium for RCPB and some great drives by a top bunch of lads.

Onto next week where a lot of the same guys from the Team are back at Ledbury, and a the long awaited debut of the TEKNO 1/8th Nitro for Steve Ibbotson with team boss Chris Ely taking a trip to Deerdale. Good luck next week team.
