RCPB out in "FORCE"!

Posted by Jules exall on

This weekend RCPB were once again out in force both inside for some 1/10th and outside for some 1/8th. Inside we had team bosses Chris Ely and Matt Box were at the 3rd round of the Shropshire winter Indoor series (SWIS) in Shrewsbury.  An interesting twisty multi surface track made for an interesting days racing.

Also in attendance at the SWIS were Felix de Hamel running Schumacher 2wd, Tommy and Jamie Hall running the new XRAY 2wd XB2 and 4wd XB4 and Gary Gregory running micro.

It was a good day all round for the Team, with Felix, Jamie and Tommy doing well in 2wd and ending up with, Tommy Pole in the B final and Felix just behind in 2nd on the Grid and Jamie 4th in the same final. In 4wd Matt was top of the pile managing to get straight into the A final with Chris Pole in the B, Tommy Just behind in 4th and Jamie Pole in the C, Gary managed 4th in the A final in micro.

First up in the finals was Jamie in the 4wd C Final and he had a great race taking the win and the bump into the B final where he joined his Brother and Chris. Jamie had a great race from the back of the field and managed an impressive 3rd in the B final, His brother Tommy just behind in 6th and Chris taking the win by over a lap. Chris then bumped into the A final to join Matt. Both had good starts with Matt unfortunately tangling with another driver from a podium position and falling to the back of the field. Chris took advantage and went on to take 3rd behind David Gibson and Tony Bishop, with matt coming home in 5th. Great drive Chris and well done for taking the top finish in 4wd. Chris's car pictured below.

In 2wd it was Tommy’s turn to win, he managed to beat his brother by just a few seconds, both making the bump into the A final but unfortunately Felix had a problem and finished 6th.Tommy then went on to a very good 4th and Jamie 5th in a very competitive race which was eventually won by Tom Yardy with a lap on Chris Doughty in 2nd and David Gibson in 3rd. Well done to Tommy for getting the highest finish in 2wd.

In Micro Gary had a problem and managed to come home 6th in the A final.

Well done to all the guys at the SWIS......now onto the other drivers at Ledbury for the club winter series and once again a few drivers at this one as well. In Nitro we had Simon White, Simon Davies and Andy Prosser and in E Buggy we had Chris Lovell.

Chris was running his new Mugen MBX7R Eco for the first time, after signing a deal for 2016 with Mugen UK and RCPB, not a bad effort considering he only had the kit delivered on Friday. Massive thanks to Lee Martin at Mugen Seiki UK for his help getting the kit to us for the weekend and also for his continued support for 2016 for Chris and all the help we will no doubt get on set ups and tips.

It was a good day for the 1/8th boys, with Andy Pole in the C final. Simon Davies back with the Radiosistemi RR8 looked back in form taking 6th in the B after Qualifying and both Simon and Chris battling for top spot on the day, with Chris eventually getting TQ with Simon hot on his heels.

Andy was first up with his RR8/Bullet Combo and unfortunately missed the bump up and finished in 6th. Then it was Simons Davies up in the B Final. The drying track made the RR8 look brilliant as he went on to take second behind fellow RR8 driver Carl o-Connor, both bumping into the A final. Great Drive Si! The A final saw the battle of the Mugen’s with Simon White also running the MBx7R – only the nitro version. The Mugen/OS/Byron Combo nearly gave Simon the edge but after 15mins it was Chris who went on to take the Win by only 4seconds over Simon White. Simon Davies went on to finish 7th. Great drive from Chris with his new car and a good day for all the RCPB drivers.

Next week sees the return of the NitroXCross series at Swindon and RCPB will be out in force for the last meeting of 2015! All of the cars and kit the drivers use are available from RCPB. See you trackside next week. EAT SLEEP RACE REPEAT!
