Regional Finals Weekend for RCPB

Posted by Jules exall on

This weekend was the final round of the SRS at Slough. Ashley Evans was running his Mugen MBX7r Eco in the Electric class along with George Miller running his Sworkz. George Got an impressive 8th and Ashley took the TQ in fine style taking the win in two of the three rounds. Ashley secured a quality second place in the final and that got him the E-buggy Championship in the series. A brilliant series of racing by Ashley! Massive well done!

At Coventry’s new 1/8th Dirt track it was the final round of the Nemo NitroXCross. The new Coventry facility was green but after a few rounds was looking good, the tight twist sections and big jumps making an interesting qualifying.

On the Sunday representing the team was Ben Billing, Matt Box, Rich Price, Si Davies, Steve Shakespeare, Shaun Stenson, Jon Griffiths and Chris Lovell. After 4 rounds of qualifying in a tough field of competitors the guys had done brilliantly.

In E-buggy Chris Lovell and his Mugen MBX7r Eco got 3rd on the grid for the final.  He had a brilliant start to his final, going to the front early on, and he eventually finished a fantastic 2nd. Another great drive by Chris.

In the Nitro class, Simon Davies and his RR8 got 40th overall, fantastic as there were over 70 drivers competing, Rich Price drove his Ielasi Tuned powered Sworks to 28th, Shaun and his HB got 25th, Jon Griffiths and his AE got 15th, Steve got 9th, Ben 8th and Matt 6th, all driving the Kyosho MP9.

In the finals it was Si Davies up first in the D, he had a tricky start going to the back of the field but he battled back to 11th. Shaun Started 5th in the C, he had a brilliantly consistent drive and he got 7th. Jon would start 5th in the B final. He too would have a fantastic race, getting the 3rd and final bump spot by just 0.5s from the 4th place man. So Jon would join Matt, Ben and Steve in the A final.

The A final would be a brilliant race, some top class drivers, including newly crowned British National Champion Darren Bloomfield, so it was going to be tough. Matt had the best start of the bunch getting up to 4th, and he finished a very impressive 8th after the 25mins. Ben got 7th just ahead of Matt. Jon went from 13th to 10th and Steve had to retire. All of the guys did brilliantly; let’s see what Sunday would bring!

A slight change in personnel, Milan Dragojlovic now competing, Jon, Shaun and Steve not present, and Chris Lovell going from Electric to Nitro! Milan and his MX powered Agama got a very impressive 5th overall for the finals, Matt Box got 19th, Chris got 26th with his Ielasi powered Losi, Rich 35th and Si just behind in 38th. Once again all in the top half of the field!

Simon would start 3rd in the D final, he and his RR8 looked amazing. Si retained his bump up spot for the majority of the race, but just missed the 3rd place by a few seconds. Rich and Chris were in the C final. Rich drove his Sworkz fantastically, he went from 9th on the grid to a very impressive 2nd, taking the bump to the B, Chris Finished 8th. Rich would join Matt in the B final. Matt had a decent start and he made some good moves, meaning he got himself to a bump position and that’s where he stayed, coming home 3rd. Rich finished 13th.

So onto the A final, Milan and Matt both got off the line well. Matt had a superb drive from 14th to finish 10th, and Milan came home on the podium in 3rd,his MX engine looking and sounding as sweet as ever.

Another fantastic result for the guys on the weekend and as it was the final round of the series that meant it was trophy time. Chris Lovell secured a brilliant 2nd overall in the E-Buggy championship. A great season with the Mugen for the driver!

In Nitro Milan got a fantastic 2nd in the series,

with Matt 5th overall

and Steve Shakespeare 9th. 3 drivers in the top 10 is brilliant for the team, but the whole team had a great championship. Well done to everyone on a great summer or racing.

As always the cars and kit the guys use is available from RC Pitbox. We look forward to this coming weekend where we will be at the NDORance event at Ndor for something a little different. We will have all the usual spares and accessories trackside.

See you all trackside soon EAT, SLEEP, RACE, REPEAT!!!
