RCPB at BWOC Silverstone!

Posted by Jules exall on

This weekend was the BWOC (British Winter Open Champs) at Silverstone and RCPB had a big team out at this great event. The famous Blue High Grip track looked stunning with Britain’s finest 1/10th racers battling out for trophies and titles!

The Team was represented by a lot of our drivers in both classes of 2wd/4wd, those being Chris Ely, Jamie and Tommy Hall, James Barker, Felix de Hamel and George Miller, and in 2wd only by Mark Fletcher, and 4wd only by Richard “Kong” McKenzie. James Bakers 2wd and 4wd Schumacher's pictured below ready for raceday!

On Saturday it was the 2wd Class’s turn, and all drivers had a pretty good day, Mark Fletcher was on fire with his schumacher and managed some great qualifying with a fantastic 15th in round 1, he ended up 21st overall and in the C Final at the end of the day.

Next in line was young gun, Jamie Hall who finished a very impressive 38th with a 30th in round 4, a very good drive by the young Xray XB2 driver to qualify 1 place ahead of team boss Chris Ely with his XB2. Chris also had some great rounds with a 23rd in round 1. James Barker and his Schumacher were just behind Chris and Jamie in 43rd place, Felix in 49 with his Schumacher, Tommy ended up 77 with his XB2 and George 89 with his SWorkz in the overalls after all 4 rounds.

In the H Final Tommy started off 7th and had a blinding start, fought his way through the field and ended up a brilliant 3rd, a very good drive from the youngest member of the team. In the E final we had James on 3 and Felix on 9, but Felix had the better start and managed to overtake and finish ahead of his team mate James, Felix taking a fine 2nd place and James finishing in 6th. In the D final we had Jamie and Chris, and this time Chris finished on top, gaining places with some great passes and eventually ending up 3rd as the buzzer went. Top RCPB driver Mark Fletcher had a great start in his C final as well and drove a great final, taking the win over some other top quality drivers. Well done fletch, pictured below.

On Sunday we had 4wd, and an appearance from the newest RCPB team member Mr Kong McKenzie and his Yokomo.

Jamie, Tommy, Chris and Felix were all setting good pace in their qualifiers and all managed good final places – with a 31st, 33rd, 36th and 37th respectively after 4 rounds. With the 2 Hall boys managing 3, 24th in round between them, a fantastic lot of qualifying by these young drivers.  James B was just behind them just behind the leading bunch of RCPB drivers with a very respectable 47th, Kong ended up 69, and George 94 overall.

Kong was in the G final-and getting to grips with his new ride, he made some good passes and finished a respectable 5th.  James Baker was in the middle of the E final, he started 7th but managed to gain a place and finish 6th with his fine looking Schumacher!

The D final saw the rest of the RCPB team, Chris, Tommy, Felix and Jamie lined up together on the grid for a final dominated by the RCBP team. It was a magnificently close final, all 4 battling it out on the famous Blue track. In the end Tommy 5th, Chris 6th and Felix 7th all crossed the finish line within a second of one another! Amazing driving guys! But the race was dominated by Jamie, who started in pole, he kept it clean and fast and took a very impressive win by over 5 seconds which is quite frankly an age in 1/10th racing. Massive well done all the RCPB guys but especially the driver of the day Jamie Hall for his brilliant win, from start to finish! Pictured below a young man with a bright RC racing future - the top U13 in 4wd this weekend as well to top it off.

A very good days racing for the team and all the drivers. All of the Cars and Kit that the RCPB guys use is available from RCPB, and if you cant find what your looking for on the website please drop us a line.

In other news we are pleased to announce that The RC-Pit Box Shop will be at Neo16 again this year, a lot of guys representing the team will all be racing so look out for us there and trackside at other venues in the next few months.

EAT< SLEEP<RACE<REPEAT!!!
