Double Top for RCPB!

Posted by Jules exall on

This weekend saw lots more racing for the RCPB guys and gals.

On Saturday and down at Silverstone we had the 5th and final round of their winter series and Chris Ely, Felix De Hamel, Tommy Hall, Jamie Hall, Mark Fletcher and James Barker. Once again the famous blue track pictured above looked awesome and this being the final round the guys were in the hunt for some trophies as well as podiums. The guys were split between the main 2wd class and 4wd Class.

Jamie Hall at only 12 years old was my drive of the day qualifying in the C final and coming home a fine 2nd running his XRAY XB2.  Felix de Hamel was on stunning form in qualifying missing the B final by just 1 point, his Schumacher looking great as always, he would then have an unfortunate final.  James Barker also ran well with his Schumacher all day to make the C final, having a great run James would win the C final for a RCPB 1-2.  Mark Fletcher would be top RCPB driver making the B final also with his Schumacher, over the series Mark would finish a very creditable 17th overall.  Tommy Hall running XARY would again put in a strong performance to make the D final and came home 3rd just behind Chris Ely.

In 4wd Chris Ely and his XB4 would have a great time in qualifying with a round win and 2x 2nd places to sit 3rd on the grid.  In the final the top 3 got away cleanly and would finish as they qualified.  Felix was not so lucky in the final from 4th on the grid he would lose 8 seconds on the opening lap and fight back to a very creditable 5th place.

Overall in the championship the RCPB collected the following, for such a big and well supported series there were some great achievements,   2wd  Jamie Hall - 3rd Under 13's

Felix de Hamel - 3rd Under 16's

4wd  Chris Ely - 3rd Place Overall and Felix de Hamel also got - 2nd Under 16's

Massive well done to all the RCPB guys for a great series and thanks to Silverstone for putting on some great racing action, a great venue and some great competition!

Down at ADUR we had Ashley Evans and his first time out with his Short Course 4wd tekno 410.3 . He managed to win all 3 of his heats getting quicker every round and took the TQ. A very pleasing first run with it in qualifying and then taking both wins in the 2legged final with a win in by over a lap in the first final and just under 20secs second final meant all in all it was a good day for Ashley. His car pictured below

At a very sunny Ledbury track (pictured below) it was the final round of the MKS sponsored winter Nitro X Cross Series – rescheduled from Nene Valley due to flooding, and the RCPB team was represented by Matt Box, Simon White, Simeon White, Andy Prosser, Gary Gregory, Simon Davies, Alex Page, Jon Griffiths,  Ben Billing and Rich Price in Nitro and Chris Lovell, Rich Price and Milan Dragojlovic in Electric.

As always Chris Lovell had a great day with his RC Concept powered Mugen MBX7r Eco. Taking TQ in the first 2 rounds, Milan shared the spoils by taking TQ in the next 2 rounds with his first run of his Tekin powered Kyosho MP9e, but Chris managed to take the pole position for the final. Rich showed some good pace with his new XRAY ebuggy, and the power was defiantly there in the new RC Concept batteries – he managed 4th on the grid! 3 RCPB in the top 4!

The gas guys had a very good day too, Simeon was flying with his MBX7R making the C final alongside fellow team members Andy Prosser and Simon Davies who managed some great qualifying and got 2nd on the grid with his Radiosistemi RR8. Gary was running his RR8 V2/Reds Combo for one of the first times and after getting to grips with it through qualifying he managed a great spot in the B final alongside Alex and his Bullett powered Kyosho MP9.

Matt Box and his new Ielasi tuned engine were on top form after a few blips in recent weeks and he managed a superb 6th on the grid in the A, Rich Price and his XRAY XB8 was on pace all day and also stuck it straight in the A – managing 9th on the Grid. Simon White got 7th but once again Ben Billing and his new Sworks Evo 2 LE was top of the RCPB list – getting a 2nd on the grid. Jon also made the 5th in the A.

Onto the finals and first up were Andy/Simon and Simeon in the C final. Simeon flew off the line and took a number of places in the first few laps he just missed out on the bump finishing 4th, Andy had a steady drive and maintained his place finishing a very good 8th but Simon Davies had a great final, his RR8 never missing a beat – he finished 2nd and got the bump to the B.

In the B that meant Gary and Alex would be joined by Simon D. Simon had another brilliant start and –after some great overtaking and fine driving he managed a very impressive 8th place finish. Alex showed his pace from start to finish and managed the bump to the A with ease finishing 2nd. Gary unfortunately had an issue and retired.

Onto the A final – Matt Box put the last few race days behind him and had a stormer. He and the kyosho/ Ielasi combo looked awesome – clinching the fastest lap of the race and he was just pipped to a podium by Jon and his AE – matt finishing 4th, his best finish for a while. Rich also had a great final, some great overtakes and some good driving gave him a 6th with Alex finishing 10th, Simon 12th and Ben 13th after some problems.

Overall a great days racing – as it was the final round it was also series presentation time. In Nitro Simeon got 3rd in the jnr class for the series

Alex got 3rd in the Veterans

and in the main series Alex got 7th overall, Matt got 5th overall, Ben got 4th overall and Milan took the series by 1 point.

In the EBuggy class Chris Lovell also managed the series win.

Massive well done to all the guys but brilliant series for Milan and Chris – A double top for RCPB!

Thanks to all the nitroxcross team for a brilliant series. Bring on the summer and may the RCPB winning ways continue for the rest of 2016.

As always all of the cars and kit the guys use – including the tyres are available through RCPB on the website and trackside. If you need anything check it out or get in touch.
