A Full Weekend of Racing for the RCPB team!

Posted by Jules exall on

This last weekend saw an abundance of racing for the RCPB Crew, with racing Friday, Saturday and Sunday!

It all kicked off on Friday Evening with the first of the ESBRC indoor club nights in Shrewsbury. Team Boss Matt Box took his old XRAY 4wd along (pictured below) and ended up with a great TQ and win. Not bad considering his passion is 1/8th Nitro.

On Saturday it was Chris Ely’s turn at Silverstone, along with Jamie and Tommy Hall. The Silverstone track looking as awesome as ever below!

Chris's xray xb2 and xb4 (pictured below) were fantastic all day and 2wd in particular was right on the pace. He was in the B final until the last heat of the last round where he was pushed to pole in the C but well and truly made up for by a faultless flag to flag win. Jamie and Tommy both made great D final appearances and Tommy had a solid D final drive and great finish of 3rd overall. In 4wd Chris qualified a very good 3rd but slipped to 6th as the buzzer went. All in all a very good outing for the RCPB guys at Silverstone.

On Sunday a number of the RCPB guys were racing all over the country. Indoors we start with George Miller and his Sworkz 2wd down in the south of england, and after a very steady days racing managed a great start in the A finals and after the legs ended up 3rd overall at Coastal Model Car Club.

At Worksop we had Felix de Hamel and his Schumacher, placing well in the D final after qualifying, but unfortunately had to retire from the final.

At Dudley we had Chris Lovell and Andy Prosser, Andy getting to grips with his AE 2wd (Pictured below) and after a decent day ended up 5th in the grid in the B and only slipping one place to 6th in the first leg of the finals.

Chris Lovell also returning to 1/10th after a long break from it, managed a very good place – straight in the A final, amongst some very good drivers, In the first leg taking 2nd , after a messy 2nd Leg Chris managed a stunning 3rd Overall. Chris may well be getting the Yokomo out if the miserable winter continues if these results are anything to go by.

Onto the Nitro boys! Pictured left to right Shaun Stenson, Gary Gregory, Alex Page, Ben Billing, Simon and Simeon White – these guys braved the elements and raced at Frankley as well as Simon Davies not pictured.

It was a very good day for these guys and the top 5 at the end of the day were all RCPB drivers, after qualifying Simon White took TQ, just behind was Ben Billing then Shaun, Gary and Alex.

It was going to be a battle amongst the team for the win, Ben eventually taking the honours with his Sworks Evo2, from Alex in 2nd, finally driving the kyosho MP9 to a podium and third was Shaun Stenson with his RR8. Simon White ended up 5th and Gary just behind him in 6th. A very good days racing at Frankely for the team. Great job all of you topped off with the clean sweep of the podium places for the guys in the A final.

At Deerdale we had team new comer Rick “Kong” Mckensie giving his thumbs some practice. A huge turnout considering the weather and Kong managed a positive drive straight into the A final, ending up 7th in a very tight race with a few second separating 4 or 5 racers.

So a great weekend for RCPB and next weekend sees even more when the Nitro X Cross is back. Remember all of the kit and cars the guys use is available from ourselves so please checkout the website and contact us if you can’t see what you’re looking for, and if you see a RCPitbox team member be sure to go say hello, they are a friendly bunch and are all willing to give advice when they can.

EAT,SLEEP,RACE,REPEAT!
