Team RC Pit Box - WINS BIG!

Posted by Jules exall on

This weekend saw the last round of the ever popular Nitro X Cross series at the new venue of Coventry Model Car Club, and back to old School Grass Racing for the 1/8th Guys. The 10th Crew headed off to Broughton Raceway for the F3/4/5 Finals. Both events littered with TEAM RCPB drivers old and new.

Firstly the 1/10th guys, Saturday was 2wd day…. Steve Ibbotson with his Schumacher KF2 took the TQ and Win by TQ’ing the first 3 rounds and won the first two legs of the final. Fantastic drive as usual from Steve retaining the RCPB 2wd Trophy this weekend showing the rest of the guys how its done.

Felix de Hamel the only RCPB Jnr competitor with his Schumacher KF2 Qualified A6 and finished A9. Great drive from Felix who is one of the top jnrs in the country at this level now, its only going to be a matter of time before this young man is running rings round the rest of us – literally. Both Steve and Felix Pictured below showing off the bling!

James Barker also running his Schumacher KF2 qualified C7 finished C4. (pic below) Well done James! . A pretty good day all round for team RCPB, brilliant racing. Team Boss Chris Ely still getting to grips with the serpent and managing C9 in a very close race.

On to Sunday and 4WD and a change of track layout – two different layouts in two days, great both days and a credit to all at the club……

Steve Ibbotson once again top of the RCPB tree with another stunning drive with his Schumacher K1 Aero, once again qualifying in the top final at A3 and finishing A4. What a great weekend for Steve. Huge congratulations on the results, and I’m guessing a leap forward in the grading for next year! Felix de Hamel also putting in a stunning performance with his Schumacher K1 Qualifying A5 finishing A9. James Barker Qualifying C6 finished C2, great result. Chris Ely having a better drive and ending up B2! Great recovery Chris.

Well done to all 1/10th guys and special thanks to Chris for all the support to the 1/10th team for the season, sacrificing his own racing preparation to support the others as usual. Top job as always!

On To 1/8th at Coventry……

Once again a few RCPB guys at this event, Simon Davies, Gary Gregory and Andy Prosser all running the RR8 and Alex Page and Ben Billing running the MBX7r in the Nitro Class and Chris Lovell running MP9e and newby James Curtis running the Tekno (pic below) for the first time, both in the electric class.

The old skool dirt grass track proving tricky and making tyre choice hard but the team doing pretty well over both days racing. Simon Davies had a consistent drive taking his RR8 from the D bumping into the C. Ben Billing had a good drive finally bumping into the A after a close B final but unfortunalty the car failing unable to compete in the A, but top driver of the day goes to Alex Page, who got straight into the A. Good Drive Alex.

Sunday was the last round in the series and once again the track was tricky, Ben managing to bump from the B final to the A final again.  Gary and Andy both bumped in their finals, Gary from D-C and and Andy E-D (pictured below), both with more podiums and Trophies to add to this year’s collection. Chris Lovell having a tricky qualifying and unable to finish his final being pipped to the post by new Driver James Curtis who eventually finished 2nd overall. Great drive and a good start to 1/8th Electric – the Tekno looking good in his hands.

As it was the final in the series the series trophies and prizes were given out and RCPB had a bumper haul. Firstly many congratulations to Chris Lovell on his 1st in the e-buggy series, the MP9e taking the big trophy and adding to his growing collection. Very well done, very consistent this season and looking forward to nitro next year.

In Nitro class we had Matt Box 12th, Alex page 7th and Ben Billing all finishing in the top 12, with Ben the highest finisher in 4th  place overall in the series. Alex page also finishing in the top 3 in the veteran class. (pic below)

Great drives by all the drivers making improvements each race weekend, special thanks to Matt Box Team boss for his support and fantastic sponsorship of the Jnr class at Nitroxcross, which saw Alex Stavros taking the Jnr E-buggy championship and James Harrold taking the Nitro Jnr Championship. Future champs im sure. Thanks to all the Nitroxcross crew on another brilliant series.

NEXT STOP – ASTRO ATTACK – Nene Valley race way Sept 26th/27th.
